Summer Blessings

This week’s post and pictures are from a guest writer, Jessie Metcalf.  A hard-working, conscientious young woman, she has been a delight to have here this summer.  We are going to miss her very much and wish her the best as she continues her education, pursues her dreams, and follows God’s plan for her life!

For those of you who don’t know me; my name is Jessie and I have been working at Panek’s this summer as an intern through Penn State. I met the Panek’s two years ago when my boyfriend, Jim and Kerry’s nephew, brought me to New York. At that point, I hadn’t known what I was going to go to school for but later decided on Agricultural Business. My major is a 2-year program; and, because of that, I was able to do an internship after my freshman year.Jessie-sign

Panek’s seemed like a great fit for me. I arranged with Kerry that I would be starting the internship in the beginning of June. Well, towards the end of May, the anticipation was already setting in. I was wondering how it would go: Would I miss home too much (I am from PA.)? Would everyone like me? Would I fit in? Now don’t get me wrong, I was very excited for my summer in Western New York! I mean, eating berries all summer, working with great people, going to the lake; how much better could it get?Jessie-rasp

Well, it got A LOT better! Since the first day of work, I have loved being up here! I have been treated like family and I really enjoy the work that I am doing. Now, as we approach the end of summer, it is almost time for me to go home and head back to school. I already know that I am not going to enjoy school as much as I have enjoyed this summer! I want to extend a HUGE thank you to the entire Panek family and everyone who has made this summer the most memorable one yet! I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and thank God for the blessings He has given me! It is all a part of His plan for me!Jessie-aerial
